LTL-M & Measurement of Wet Markings

As one of its many activities DELTA’s distribution partner in Australia, ARRB, is operating a road survey operation using the Hawkeye 2000 Network Survey Vehicle (NSV). The Hawkeye offers 
the option of including LTL-M as an integrated part of the measurement 
solution. 
Last year ARRB participated in a survey on “Wet weather high visibility line marking trials” together with Queensland Department of Transportation and Main Roads. A part of the survey was to measure wet marking using the NSV. After some testing, ARRB found 
that LTL-M worked with wet marking when turned backwards, i.e. in the direction away from the driving direction. They managed to measure at driving speed up to 60 – 80 kph.

 

 

Revised EN 12899 Standard On Its Way

The European standardisation organisation CEN is working on an update of the EN 12899 standard for traffic signs. The main purpose of this update is to include microprismatic sheeting types in the standard - it covers at the moment only glass bead based materials. 
From a draft version of the standard we have seen that for new type approvals three entrance angles (+5, +15 and +30 degrees) and six observation angles (0.2, 0.33, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 degree) will be asked for.
